The Comcell Project is the first 'Featured Piece' of many to come. The Featured Piece will highlight certain pieces of design work either created by myself or someone else. Featured Pieces will contain work that is special to me in some way, shows great design or has just had the recognition it deserves.
To get one of your pieces of work on the Featured Piece section, there is no fee. Just get noticed by me with some good material or contact me directly.
The Comcell Project itself is an old project I done while studying at The Isle of Wight College. It was a timed project that gave us 6 hours to design a front cover for a fictional mobile phone company's brochure. In doing so, we also had to include an image of a palmtop and an image of a mobile phone, in 4 different colours. We also had to include the company logo onto the devices. The logo was provided. It was a good little project as it got us used to the pressures designers face in the real world.
Looking back at this project I kind of think, "what on Earth was I thinking of?" It's not very 'mobile phone sales company' at all. The image is very bold and colourful, and extremely cartoony.

Ever since then I've quite often included some form of cartoon manor isms into my work, either on purpose or unintentionally.
This piece is quite special to me as it was the first time I mixed traditional hand drawn imagery that I'd been doing since I was a kid; with the modern digital side of design, that I had been learning in the previous 3 to 4 years. Read more...
